Ben Grinberg (Guest Artist) is a Philadelphia-based performing artist, videographer, and co-founder and artistic director of Almanac. A graduate of the inaugural class of the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training, he is the physical theatre instructor for Circadium, the nation’s first certificate-granting professional circus program. With Almanac, he has performed for tens of thousands across 11 states, Canada and Mexico, and has co-created and performed in 7 full length works of dance circus theatre, including Communitas, Leaps of Faith and Other Mistakes, Exile 2588, and Fronteras. Through performance and video work, he remains invested in collaborative, non-hierarchical modes of creation and management. He is honored to have created things with Eiko Otake, Pig Iron Theatre Company, Ruth Grauert and Bearnstow, Theatre Horizon, Zina Saro-Wiwa, the Philadelphia Artist’s Collective, Red 40 and the Last Groovement, and Mascher Space Co-Operative, among many others.
